Highlights
The Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT) or Te Kura Matatini o Taranaki, is part of Te Pūkenga“ the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology.
Focused on flexible, career-focused learning, the institute seeks to provide key industries and local businesses with the skilled workforce they need through supporting both local and international students in their studies.
Students are well-supported by a range of facilities. Each classroom has facilities that are conducive to all the different learning styles, from interactive whiteboards and projectors to tailored equipment for specific subjects such as engineering or technology. Te Henui Lodge is located on campus and gives you a modern and well-equipped apartment-style living arrangement. Lodge managers live on-site to provide additional security. Communal areas provide a great opportunity to socialise and enhance your usage of the English language, if applicable. Due to its location on campus, students have ease of access to the Fitness Factory: an on-site gym offering free membership to WITT students, the library, sports equipment and a student lounge that is open 24/7.
Both rental and homestay accommodation is available to WITT students. Informally referred to as 'flatting', you can stay in an apartment with friends or you can choose to live with a friendly local family as part of a homestay arrangement. International students can fill out an arrival and accommodation form if they want assistance with finding accommodation whilst they study at WITT. The indoor sports complex serves to help students maintain an overall sense of wellbeing in addition to providing them with learning opportunities. Access all the academic resources you need via the modern library space that also boasts of having several study spaces, printing facilities and readily available computer access. The Student Services team offers a variety of services such as support groups, including international student support, and a student mentoring program to ensure students make the most of campus life. Similarly, there are on-campus health clinics and easy access to counseling sessions readily available.
Students can join the Student Representative Council to make their voice heard or join one of the many clubs and societies on campus. Guest speaker events and the variety of sports clubs available also provide a vibrant and varied student experience for all those attending WITT.
